he lives!

ok, it's like 6:15 a.m. and i haven't been to bed yet, but every day i've been promising myself i would post something and i don't want to get kicked out of any of my rings or anything either, if i haven't been already.... however, i am going to attempt brevity.

let's see. here's my still not done sockapalooza sock:

i think this is technically like my 5th sockapalooza sock, all prior attempts have been ripped off the needles. i kept sending neurotic messages to my pal to make sure i got the correct measurements and wound up screwing them up not once, but twice anyway. so, with only days left before her return from vacation (thank god she went on vacation) I started a brand new sock I found in Fall 06 Interweave out of nowhere. I really like it. Why? Because I haven't ripped it yet!!!! NOT ONCE!! Not one row, not one stitch! I did have to convert 1 knit to a purl, but that's it! Therefore, my new favorite sock pattern EVER. :) I'm actually way further along than in the pic, about 6 rounds away from the heel... My secret pal is running behind with my socks, which made me feel better too. I told him/her that with glee in my reply to their kind e-mail, and I am sure they think I'm whacko. I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE LATE!!!!!!!! It's so true, though, it was comforting to know I am not the only person who didn't finish in time and it was very cool they contacted me to let me know, so all is wonderful there. I know I personally can get cranky with knitting deadlines, so hopefully he/she didn't think I was being sarcastic or anything... If you're reading this, Hi, Secret Pal!!!! Thank you so much for knitting my socks and please take your time really! :) And I'm sorry again for having big feet!!!!

It's ironic because part of the draw for me for this sockapalooza was the amount of time I would have to finish the socks and I was like HA! I can do that! NO PROBLEM!!!!! (le sigh) So not only is my Secret Pal making me socks, which will only be my second pair of hand-knit socks to my name, thank you very much (have to give a shout-out to my favorite assassin, hello, love! hope you are well!) and I am terribly excited, but has also brought me solace in my own frantic attempts at finishing. I looked on the official blog for signs of people not finishing, and there were none. At least we have each other, Secret Pal! (giggle!) Thank you again!!!!!

Let's see what else... Um. I MET DEAR MARCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally! I have been threatening to meet her for a while now since she lives very close to mom, but we kept missing each other, but not this time! I met with her marvelous knitting group at the Earl of Sandwich at a local mall. They were a delightful bunch!

I am insanely fat and bloated from long-term prednisone use and have no clue why I am looking so cranky in the first pic with Marce darling, so don't look at me, k thx. i have these lovely ladies' names on the laptop and I am too lazy to look at the moment, but I will fix that soon, and forgive me please. Please make sure to check out the last picture in the set of the lady in the yellow sweater, tell me that isn't the most adorable picture EVER. She made the top as well as the matching bag. :) Marce brought me wonderful presents that I dove into and messed up before photographing. It was absolutely WONDERFUL meeting her and her group, and I hope to add their knit night to my agenda on every trip to mom's. She is officially the first KH'er I have had the pleasure to meet in person, and except for Christine, who I technically met before we knew each other online (how WEIRD! teehee!) she's the first online knitting friend I've met in person!

And speaking of Christine, who finished her socks in time AND received socks with BEADS, is also currently featured in the most recent issue of Yarnival!" Go check it out, it's fun! Also featured there is the Hunk of the Month, aptly named in this case. Is that not the coolest ever!!!! A sock-knitting tough guy auto mechanic!!!! I am not sure how I would feel about sharing my stash with a knitting spouse, but more power to them! I bet it has lots of perks, too, and I know that The Purloined Letter and her hubby have it down pat and it always tickles me to see their projects photographed together.

Also speaking of Christine, (ears ringing?) this Saturday is Stitch n Pitch here and she is organizing a gathering at St. Pete Shuffle tomorrow and I believe a yarn crawl, as well. I am getting the impression the turn out for this year's SnP is going to be amazing!!! Audrey got 2 tables for Needles & Knobs and will be blowing out like 15 bins of yarn at like 30% off at the game. WOOT! None for me, though, yarn diet! (for this minute anyway)

that's all for now... so much for brevity!!!! i am shamefully behind on just about all of your blogs, please forgive me. things have really been.... a mess in many ways, but I will do my best to catch up soon! Know that I miss you all and even lurk quickly sometimes! ;) Hope all is well with everyone!!!!

Well, it looks like I only missed you by about 2 hours! Hahaha.

Wow, I love that sock pattern... the V's are so cool. I will need a new sock pattern soon - I was hoping to have this 2nd sock done by this evening but I don't think I am going to make it - I still have 2 inches to do before I start the toe.

How do you like toe up socks? I have to admit, the cast ons look daunting to me so i haven't tried it yet. Everyone who I know who makes toe-ups say they wouldn't do it any other way. Maybe I should try next time.

What are those other pairs of sock in the background? Did you knit those too?

I'm still catching up on blogs I'm behind on from my ill-fated vacation last month. Your sockapalooza sock is looking great - love the colors! And the pics of you and Marce are adorable. How cool that y'all got to meet up!
