some WIPs and such
hi! i know i'm lagging again, but since dear Marce was kind enough to interview me for her blog, I figure I'd best post something at least a little recent! :)
let's see... i finished the back of kenobi!!!!! that is insanely exciting for me. I have never worked on a garment long enough before frogging to complete shaping! it's only pseudo-blocked for photographing purposes, but here it is:
Speaking of firsts and knitting while working, a knitter friend's daughter is coming in this weekend and I'm supposed to teach her to knit and decided very last minute to knit her a gift. Since she is visiting from a cold climate and I needed something quick, I went with Fetching from Knitty. She is SO RIGHT about instant gratification, dang! I cast on during work yesterday, knit on it here and there, and then forced myself to sit in front of the tv for a little bit last night to get away from my desk and by the time adult swim was over, I had my first fetching done.
this was my first thumb! i had to do some creative weaving of ends to mask the little holeys I got in the gusset, but all in all, I am really happy with it! I CO to a size 8 needle instead of the 6 and used the sewn BO for the thumb to make sure it was loose enough, other than that, no mods at all, if those are even considered mods. Very fun! I am looking forward to making myself a pair of Dashing to match the Kenobi.
And that's about it! I finally finished the first sock from Sockapalooza. Unfortunately I chose a pattern that I can only work on when I can really focus, and haven't had much of that lately. I'm going on 3 months late. :( Meh. My recipient has been super cool and understanding, though, thank goodness. I am going to have to send some SERIOUS bonus gifts to make up for this, I think. Suggestions? already planning on one of the sockapaloooza totes. I haven't received my socks yet, either, which makes me feel a little better anyway. Hi secret sock pal if you're out there!!!! Hope all is well with you and thank you!!!! :-D
and that's all! OH NO WAIT! As my interview with darling Marce alludes, I am currently lusting over the Namaste meseenger and don't you know Joann's has it on sale for like $18 off! check it! not sure how long the sale is on for, I hope at least until next week!!!! ack! if not, they are also available at scout swag and Diva Knitting
ok gotta get back to work! hope all is well out there, still haven't done any blog reading, but i will one day dang it! xoxoxoxox
ETA: Today is/was National Coming Out Day! I forgot! For anyone that didn't know, I'm a gay! (giggle) Seriously, though, if anyone comes out to you today, please show treat them with the respect and support they deserve! xoxoxoxox
ETA 2: On a more somber note, the owner of one of my very favorite LYS Uncommon Threads lost her beloved daughter, Jennifer, in a car accident this past Friday. I unfortunately missed the memorial service today, but if you would please say some prayers for Rosemary, Nick, Michael, Joe, and the rest of the family. She was a very, very special woman, loved by all. Here is a link if you so choose. Thanks.
